Production process of cold drawn steel wire
1、 The principle of cold drawn steel wire production process
The production process of cold drawn steel wire is to use steel to undergo a series of drawing and quenching processes at room temperature to eliminate internal stress and improve the strength of the steel. Through this process, the diameter of the steel can be continuously reduced, while the surface quality and strength are improved, thereby enhancing the mechanical properties of the steel. Due to the high surface smoothness, strength, and ductility of cold drawn steel wire, it has been widely used in various fields.
2、 Process steps of cold drawn steel wire production technology
The production process of cold drawn steel wire mainly includes three steps: pretreatment, cold drawing, and quenching.
1. Preprocessing
In the pre-processing stage, the steel to be processed first needs to undergo raw material storage inspection, and then undergo acid washing, cold rolling, acid washing, roll cleaning and other treatments to obtain suitable physical structure and chemical composition. It can make the surface of steel cleaner and finer.
2. Cold drawing
In the cold drawing stage, the processed steel is processed multiple times through a drawing machine to continuously reduce the cross-sectional area of the steel, resulting in fine steel wire. At this stage, there are high requirements for the equipment, which need to meet factors such as tension, wire diameter, and speed.
3. Quenching
In the quenching stage, the drawn steel wire is rapidly cooled on its surface through a quenching furnace to further improve the strength of the steel wire, while eliminating residual stresses inside the steel wire, making the steel wire have better mechanical properties.
3、 Equipment selection for cold drawn steel wire production process
1. Pulling machine
Pulling machine is a core equipment that can continuously process and refine steel wire. Currently, high-power AC variable frequency motor driven drawing machines are widely used in China.
2. Quenching furnace
Quenching furnaces can provide rapid cooling for steel wires, ensuring that they reach the predetermined hardness. Currently, they are mainly divided into infrared furnaces and resistance furnaces.
